Hey there, I'm Coffin Parade! I'm an artist and a game developer from Miami, FL.

I'm trying to learn as much as I can about game development and share not only the games I make on the way but some of the process behind it too. Here's a little bit about me and kinda an artist statement all rolled into one.

As it is for many people, play was a vital way for me to express my creativity as a kid, and my favorite way to play was to create little worlds out of lego. Whether it was a set I had just taken meticulous care to build or some incoherent mess of bricks I created out of all the different sets that I had disassembled before, I would set little scenes and tell little tales of whatever I could think up. In many ways I feel like I'm bringing that part of me back out whenever I make an artwork or write up a bit of code.

Inspiration for my work comes from a bevy of places, from the DIY attitude of the punk subculture to the games of Edmund McMillan and Toby Fox to the works of Alex Kanevsky, all of which and more I found out about through the internet and internet culture and online spaces such as YouTube.

From a simple anagram generator I managed to find the simple yet evocative combination of "Coffin Parade" and I grabbed onto it for dear life. I felt an odd kinship with it, this interesting tug of war between the two words themselves as they evoke what should both be a moment of mourning, sadness, and sorrow with joy, celebration, and happiness. Internal contradictions that I've felt within myself many a times. It was like a slot that I didn't know needed to be filled suddenly revealed itself and things suddenly made more sense because of it. From there drawing a goofy lil guy with a coffin for a body just felt natural.

In the future I'd like to explore that tension, create experiences that can help people resolve those contradicting feeling within themselves. I also want to give people new ways of learning things that they wouldn't have otherwise, either about themselves or about the world around them.
